It is high time to challenge intellectual frontiers of future members of the international academic community. As to get to the core of the problem of the present world crisis, globally acclaimed paradigms and believes should be re-examined and rethought, giving an incentive for a thorough and radical change.

Therefore, students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb are organizing a student project called

The 1st International Student Conference 2009

which will take place on June 12 and 13 2009 in Zagreb. The main goal of this project is, as stated by the organizers, to provide young and innovative students with an opportunity to develop their abilities in critical thinking of present and oncoming economic and social challenges.

This conference plans to attract students from 12 European countries: Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovak Republic and Slovenia. The official language of the conference is English. All interested students can participate by writing a paper (individually or up to a maximum of three co-authors) on appointed themes.

The main theme of this conference is „Time to Rethink Economics“ with offered sub-themes that cover not only economics, but also deal with related social sciences, including, but not limited to, Business Administration, International Relations, Political Science and Sociology. In line with this, the organizers would like to foster interdisciplinarity and dialogue between different professions. Besides the presentation and discussion sessions, at the end of Day 1 of the conference there will be a Round Table with renowned members of Croatian academic and business community.

With the help of the Faculty of Business and Economics Zagreb and generous sponsors, students have the possibility to participate in the conference with a symbolic fee of 15€ which includes welcome packages, lunch, two coffee brakes, closing dinner. Day 2 of the conference is supposed to be more informal with a complimentary excursion to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Plitvička Jezera (Plitvice Lakes).

The official Web site of the conference is http://sites.google.com/site/isc2009croatia where deadlines, instructions for authors and all other relevant information can be found.
